Wake up! How to use essential oils to start your day

If you’re stuck in Struggle Town most mornings, we’re here to help.

Essential oils are a wonderful way to boost mood and increase motivation, and there are some easy ways to use them which will help get you out from under that doona and ready to roll.

1. Switch off to Switch on

Stating the obvious, getting a good sleep the night before is a reliable way to feel more energised the next morning. Get that night-time routine down before you even think about mornings: that means a set bedtime, digital detox in the bedroom, and a few consistent wind-down routines.

One of our favourites is a spritz of Bosisto’s Australian Natives Sleep Aroma Mist on your pillow before bed. A relaxing blend of Banksia Flower, Nerolina, Lavender and Chamomile, it will help make your bedroom a sleep haven.

2. Wake up Shower

Here’s a great way to feel awake more quickly. With the hot water on, spray a small quantity of Bosisto’s Eucalyptus Spray* around the bottom edge of the shower. You can also add a capful of Bosisto’s Eucalyptus Oil* onto a damp face washer then lay it at the base of the shower (don’t pour the oil straight on the shower base or it might make the floor slippery).

The aroma of eucalyptus oil is fantastic for an early morning wakeup call, helps clear the nose and head and has a rejuvenating effect on the senses…. a DIY sauna experience!

3. Diffuse & Go

You can continue to benefit from mood-boosting aromatherapy while you’re preparing for your day. While you’re in the kitchen making breakfast and packing lunches, pop on a fresh, energising blend in your diffuser.

We love our Bosisto’s Australian Natives Energy Blend with Kakadu Plum, Peppermint Eucalyptus, Lemon Myrtle, Lime, Rosemary & Mandarin. The citrus notes are an invigorating way to start the day.

4. Roll-on some Energy

Mid-morning slumps are a real challenge. Grab some roll-on aromatherapy for a quick fix to see you through. An uplifting blend, like Bosisto’s Breathe Roll-on, is perfect. This refreshing blend includes Blue Mallee Eucalyptus, Tea Tree, Peppermint, Lavender, Siberian Fir, Rosemary and Wintergreen. It’s like a breath of fresh air!

Roll-ons are also great for in the car, to help you cope with a stressful morning commute or get your mind ready for the day. Just roll it on your wrists and inhale!

You can even pop one of these on your bedside table – when you’re tempted to hit the snooze button one more time, take a sniff instead.

Essential oils may not turn you from a Night Owl into a morning person - but may just make mornings that little bit easier for you.
